Skipping Girl
(R.Hazleton)
Named ‘Artist of the Year’ (Solo) at the 2021 Australian Folk Music Awards, Ruth Hazleton is one of Australia’s most highly regarded folk singers, songwriters, and interpreters of traditional song. With a career spanning over twenty-five years, Ruth began her solo journey in 2019, releasing the album Daisywheel – a lyrical voyage of history, struggle and resilience in song.
Equipped with an electric guitar tuned to DADGAD and a 5-string banjo, Ruth’s repertoire features a mixture of traditional and original material steeped in folklore and presented through a keenly critical contemporary lens.
“…compelling and intimately fierce” (Living Tradition – UK).
