Saturday In Paradise
(C.Stockley)
Like most musicians my age in England, I was addicted to Elvis and everything rock and roll. This led to my interest in r’n’b, blues and country music. I arrived in Australia ’64 and started to play guitar and in ’65 did my first gig, then went on to form an electric band as that was the sound that I loved. I started a couple of blues bands, they morphed into soul/pop bands and I was asked to join Axiom which had the amazing writing talents of Brian Cadd and Don Mudie. The band broke up in England and was some time after returning to Australia that I was asked to join The Dingoes, with successful musician/song writer Kerryn Tolhurst. It was in The Dingoes that I first started writing songs. Various bands followed but it was in the Blue Healers, Rock Doctors and Stockley, See & Mason and Hard Road where I concentrated on writing. It was quite a while before I happened to meet James Black in Elwood who suggested I record some of my own songs and eventually I put out the CD Pale New Sun (which he produced). Since then I have been working with BRAM! playing a mixture of Blues, Roots and AMericana and my songs fit in nicely. My immediate aim is to continue and I’m looking forward to putting out another album in the very near future
