I Love Everything About Melbourne
(B.Miller)
Billy Miller is best known as the singer of The Ferrets (No. 1 single “Don’t Fall In Love”; Gold record for “Dreams of A Love” LP – 1977).
He has been performing, composing and producing music for over 50 years, starting with acoustic spots with songwriting partner Martin Falls at ‘The Green Man’ (Armadale) and ‘Geoff Brooke’s Steak Cave’ (city) in 1969, then followed 3 years in the cast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” (1972-75), where he met bass player Ken Firth (who was in the orchestra), and soon after they formed The Ferrets (1976-1979).
Between then and today 8-10,000 gigs have passed under the bridge, with The Great Blokes, The Spaniards, The Gypsys, Dave Graney and Clare Moore, The Love Brothers (current) and countless more acts.
In April 2018 Billy won (with co-writer Paul Kelly) the A.P.R.A. Song of the Year Award for the song “Firewood and Candles” – a mere 41 years between number one records, showing that it’s never too late
